About Me
I’m Dr. Ian Evans, Psy.D., L.P. (he/him); a licensed psychologist in Saint Paul, Minnesota. I provide psychological services via telehealth throughout Minnesota.
I am an avid lover of the stories that shape us, and my educational journey is one that is particularly salient to my professional practice. I am a first-generation college student, originally from Wisconsin, and received my Psy.D. in Counseling Psychology from Radford University in 2019, with the capstone of my training via my pre-doctoral internship from the University of Akron’s Counseling & Testing Center. Prior to this, I received my Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Central Arkansas and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a human services emphasis from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Within my career, I have held passion for working with university students, emerging adults, and early-career professionals. Presently I work full-time with the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities as a staff psychologist, serving in clinical, supervisory, and educational roles.
Clients who work with me will feel an empathic foundation to our work and feel authentically cared for, as I center a genuine and warm therapeutic relationship as a primary agent of change; a relationship that actively incorporates the holistic identities and experiences that embody the client's full story.
In my practice, I incorporate an emotion-focused and interpersonal theoretical approach, each of which have strong research support for their effectiveness. Regarding special interests, I have a passion for working with couples with various presenting concerns and relationship types, and cherish working with the impact of grief in all its forms.
If you are interested in exploring what finding your path toward growth and healing may look like in working together, I openly invite you to email me to schedule a free and confidential consultation phone or video call.
Available Services
Free Consultation
No cost.
I offer a free & confidential 15-minute phone or video call consultation prior to starting therapy. A trusting, empathic working relationship is key to successful therapy, and I want you to feel comfortable in your decision prior to any payment being made. In this call, we will discuss what is bringing you to therapy, explore some of your personal background, and hold space for any questions you may have. At the conclusion of this call, we will decide if we may be a good fit to work together.
60-Minute Psychotherapy
$250 per session.
For individuals or couples, a 60-minute psychotherapy meeting will hold space to explore and unpack the core concerns you hope to address in our work together. General paperwork will be sent to be completed prior to our first appointment, and initial meetings will likely focus on deepening understanding of presenting concerns, alongside the establishment of an empathic working relationship. A tailored treatment plan will be developed that will provide a roadmap for the outcomes you wish to see from treatment, with evaluation toward progress being assessed throughout.
90-Minute Psychotherapy
$300 per session.
For those who wish to have a little more time to work toward their goals, a 90-minute psychotherapy meeting may be right for you. For relationships/couples, this has typically been the ideal amount of time to provide space for each partner to explore their experiences and perspectives, while working together to their shared goal.

Good Faith Estimate
Health care providers are legally required to provide those who do not have or opt to not use their insurance with an estimate of expected charges for medical services. You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much care could cost, prior to scheduling your service. Should rates change you will be given ample notice and can request an updated estimate.
Cancellation/Reschedule/No-Show
In order to honor the time and support for each of my clients, I have implemented a firm cancellation / reschedule / no-show policy. If you are unable to attend your scheduled session, please provide a 48-hour notice. Allowing at least 48 hours notice will allow for the opportunity for another person or couple to receive care in your place. Cancelled or rescheduled appointments with fewer than 48-hour notice will be charged a 75% of our agreed upon session rate. Please note that emergencies are excluded from this policy.
Self-Pay / Out-of-Network
Payment is accepted via credit card, HSA card, or via check. Payment is due in full within 24 hours of your session. Of note, I do not accept insurance and hold limited sliding scale availability. During an initial consultation, I am happy to discuss any questions you may have regarding billing so that you can feel confident in the investment you are making in your care.
